Whilst small in number, there was no doubt that the retired Queen’s Nurses (rQNs) who gathered last week (Tuesday 8 October) in Inverurie had a wonderful few hours catching up and sharing stories of their careers nursing in the community.
The group enjoyed bowls of soup to warm up, while reminiscing; sharing stories and laughter.
It was lovely for the group to also meet Linda Harper, one of the two new Visitors in Aberdeenshire. Ali Lister, the other new addition to our team of Visitors would have loved to have attended but had another commitment.
Linda, having been a Community Nurse in Aberdeen, was able to relate well to the group and enabled lots of memories to be triggered about the good and not so good old days. The staff at the Garioch Heritage Centre where the group met included some who were former nurses, so were able to lend to the happy chatter.
The Centre also hosts an exhibition of times gone by and it was fascinating to see, in particular the section about nursing through the decades.
