The Queen’s Nursing Institute Scotland (QNIS), in partnership with The National Lottery Community Fund, is pleased to announce the opening of applications for the latest Catalysts for Change programme.
Grants are available of up to £5,000 to help community nurses and midwives in Scotland explore short-term initiatives that prevent, reduce or overcome health inequalities.
QNIS welcomes applications before Thursday October 28.
Catalysts for Change projects are all led by community nurses and are fundamentally about working in close collaboration with individuals, families, and local organisations to find new ways to tackle the physical and mental health issues they face.
Since 2015, 20 nurse-led Catalysts projects have been delivered across the country. Previous work includes a police custody nurse improving access to healthcare support; a practice nurse establishing a men’s shed; a community infant feeding nurse increasing knowledge of breastfeeding among young people; and school nurses building resilience for primary-aged children.
All the previous projects worked in partnership with others such as third sector organisations, statutory bodies, or local community groups.
The latest round of funding for 2022/23 is looking for community nurses and midwives who want to collaborate with the people they care for to address health inequalities in their communities.
The projects selected for funding will begin before April 2022.
Funding of up to £5,000 is available and during the 12-month project implementation period, QNIS will provide workshops, mentoring and support to further develop project management, co-production and evaluation skills for participants.
The funding is in partnership with The National Lottery Community Fund which distributes money raised by National Lottery players for good causes and is the largest community funder in the UK.
