This week marks Care Home Week – a celebration of the people who live and work in them and the role care homes play in the community.
Scottish Care – the membership organisation and representative body for independent social care services in Scotland – are celebrating different elements of care home life each day from June 12 – 18.
Wednesday June 14 is Workforce Day – a chance to focus on the people fulfilling all the vital roles in care homes across the country.
More than 5,000 nurses make up the 54,000 strong care home workforce, delivering person-centred care and support. Over at Scottish Care, they have compiled a series of short films with nurses to explain the work in the sector.

Arranged below are just a few of the quotes from these nurses
I treat the residents as my family… If they’re happy, I’m happy too.
I think nursing is not as much a job, it’s a passion. There’s not a day where I leave the building where I think I really have not enjoyed my job.
They have travelled the world, they have seen and done more than I can. When they are coming in here, it is quite humbling for us. We are now looking after them and are responsible for making them happy.
Or quite simply
I think I have the best job…
