This bank holiday weekend, celebrations are being held across the United Kingdom to mark Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. With 70 years of service, she has ruled for longer than any other Monarch in British history.
Her Majesty is the royal patron of the Queen’s Nursing Institute Scotland and has been in that role for the last 20 years having taken over from The Queen Mother.
Thanks to Her Majesty’s patronage, QNIS has been able to support community nurses and midwives in providing vital care in Scotland’s communities. Each year, Her Majesty writes a letter of congratulations to all those being awarded the Queen‘s Nurse title, a gesture greatly admired by those nurses and midwives completing the programme.
Clare Cable, QNIS Chief Executive and Nurse Director said:
“Her Majesty welcomed the reintroduction of the Queen’s Nurse title to Scotland and has graciously signed every certificate for the last five years – all 130. We are truly honoured that she has taken the time and trouble to do so. Having Her Majesty The Queen’s signature is a mark of the value she places on nursing and is deeply appreciated by every recipient.”
