Media and External Relations Manager (Maternity Cover)
About QNIS: The Queen’s Nursing Institute Scotland (QNIS) is a small charity doing big things in promoting excellence in community nursing to improve the health and wellbeing of the people of Scotland. We support, encourage and inspire nurses employed by the NHS, independent or charitable sector who work in a huge range of roles across Scotland to really make a difference for the communities they serve.
The role: We have a great opportunity for a Media and External Relations Manager to cover nine months of maternity leave. We are looking for a brilliant communicator, well versed in digital and traditional media to support the organisation between April and December. We would be happy to view this role as an opportunity for secondment.
This will be a wide ranging role which will see you involved in a variety of activities, from updating our website, writing news items, maintaining our social media presence and developing our brand, and engaging in the work of the Institute with our stakeholders. Being a small team, we also need someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves up and pitching in, packing boxes, or running to the shops when required.
The post is 37.5 hours a week, 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday with a 30 minute lunch (but could be offered as 30 hours per week for the right candidate). We are offering a salary of up to £27k pro rata, depending on experience. Depending on start date, you will be entitled to 19 days leave across these nine months.

About you
With significant communications experience, you will have excellent writing skills, and be able to write compellingly for different audiences and formats. You will be able to demonstrate highly proficient IT skills and an ability to cope with several tasks at once and constant interruptions. This nine-month contract is an exciting opportunity to develop skills within a small team whilst providing excellent communications cover.
