Free Online CPD Courses in Care and Compassion

muyhomelifeMy Home Life has helped to develop two free online courses for professional development around care and compassion.

Care and Compassion: Getting it Right – launches on 31st October

This course was developed in collaboration between the Scottish Improvement Science Collaborating Centre (SISCC), the University of Dundee and the University of the West of Scotland.

It is for anyone interested in how care and compassion is delivered across the health and social care spectrum, this course offers an enjoyable and enlightening professional development opportunity. With 15 hours of learning over 5 weeks, this course will enable you to learn with experts in the field and have the opportunity to share insights from your own practice and the experience of others.

Join over 6000 learners from around the world to explore this critical topic. Together, we can make a positive change in the standard of care and the well-being of practitioners. This course is a continued professional development (CPD) opportunity for staff and students.  Enrol yourself, or share the course details with staff, colleagues and students, encouraging them to enrol as part of their CPD this year.

Putting Caring Conversations into Practice – available now

Putting Caring Conversations into Practice is a free online training resource designed for both medical and non-medical staff in general practice settings.

Effective conversations are a key aspect of person centred care and at the centre of the House of Care model promoted by the Scottish Government. Improving conversations between healthcare professionals and patients, particularly those with long-term conditions, has been shown to improve outcomes for both parties – Caring Conversations shows you how. Using an evidence-informed model, real-life case studies and a mix of film and interactive content, Caring Conversations is an engaging and educational online tutorial.

  • Developed from evidence informed research by Professor Belinda Dewar, University of the West of Scotland

  • Downloadable tools and additional resources
  • Continuing Professional Development certificate
