68 community nurses from North Lanarkshire were awarded long service certificates and badges in recognition of at least 21 years of community nursing service at a Long Service Award event on 21 March.
Four Queen’s Nurses who work at NHS North Lanarkshire, Elizabeth Briody, Clare Bates, Kelly Frame, and Carole Morrow presented a short account of their experience of the Queen’s Nurse Development Programme, focusing in particular on the importance of self care. The group encouraged everyone in the room to be serious about self care.
The awardees were shown testimonies from their managers and colleagues about what they bring to their team, how much they are valued, and how they inspire others.
Emma Legge, QNIS Professional Nurse Lead, presented the certificates on behalf of QNIS, thanking all the awardees for their service to the people of North Lanarkshire and their dedication to community nursing.
Emma said: ‘It was a privilege to be invited to the event. Being in a room with so much experience and a palpable joy for our profession was moving and uplifting. The awardees, their families, and friends should be very proud of this achievement, and we should all be grateful that community nurses continue to be committed to serving the people of Scotland.’
