Laura McCann
Community Learning Disability Senior Charge Nurse
Falkirk Learning Disability Team – NHS Forth Valley
What difference do you hope to have on the health and wellbeing of those you care for?
Learning Disability Nursing is one of the smallest branches of nursing there is, but by goodness what a fantastic field of nursing to be trained in. My role allows me to be proactive in addressing the health inequalities faced by individuals with a learning disability. I continue to strive for inclusive services for those with a learning disability, ensuring they have the ability to have their voices heard within their local services. My hope for the future is to work alongside mainstream services teaching them the skills to work collaboratively with patients, families and carers.
Continue to create a psychologically safe environment for our team, giving staff the opportunity to flourish within their roles.
