We are pleased to report that Dr Sarah Doyle has been appointed Chief Executive and Nurse Director at the Queen’s Nursing Institute Scotland (QNIS).
Sarah has been working at QNIS for over four years, most recently as Professional Nurse Lead, where she oversaw the development of the charity’s Relational Care Programme.
A community mental health nurse, Sarah has thirty years of experience across clinical practice, national workforce development, training, supervision, consultancy, academic teaching, and research.
She has led projects and programmes of work for NHS Education for Scotland and completed her doctoral research with a scholarship from the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC). Throughout her career, Sarah has been interested in helping create the conditions required for sensitive, expert nursing practice, and she recognises the importance of a range of individual, organisational, political, and societal factors in the creation of these conditions.
As Chief Executive and Nurse Director (CEND) of QNIS, Sarah will work with trustees and the staff team to help shape the organisation’s response to relevant policy and professional issues for community nursing.

Dr Doyle said of her appointment:
“I am absolutely thrilled to be appointed Chief Executive and Nurse Director of QNIS. I have loved working here for the last four years and I am excited to take the organisation forward as it enters a new chapter.”
Sarah will take up her new position at QNIS on Monday 7 October 2024.
