Celebrate the first signs of spring by visiting the gardens open for the 2016 Snowdrop Festival. This is a fantastic opportunity to see spectacular white carpets of snowdrops and experience brilliant moments full of winter beauty. It is a wonderful way to explore several of Scotland’s most beautiful locations including grand estates, tranquil woodlands and historic gardens. It also provides the chance to discover hidden gems when visiting the open days run by private gardens which are not usually accessible to the public.
This popular annual outdoor festival, now in its 10th year, is coordinated by Scotland’s Gardens and Cambo Estate in association with Visit Scotland. There are more than 60 venues taking part across Scotland, of which 31 are opening under Scotland’s Gardens and are welcoming visitors in to help raise money for charity. Many of these gardens will be offering teas, some have collections of unusual snowdrop species and some may even have snowdrops for sale. Remember, by supporting Scotland’s Gardens you will be supporting QNIS, alongside other charities.
To find out more about the snowdrop openings, see the Scotland’s Gardens website and the 2016 Guidebook (available to order online and from bookshops).
