Yesterday, the Scottish National Party (SNP) released their manifesto for the 2016 Scottish Parliament Elections. Some of their key priorities for health and care are listed below. We will provide details on the Manifestos of all mainstream Political Parties as they are issued.
- Increase NHS revenue budget by £500million more than inflation by the end of the Parliament
- Invest an additional £1.3billion in developing health and social care integrated partnerships, reforming primary care and increasing GP and community nursing numbers
- Create new multi-disciplinary community hubs
- Create an extra 1000 training places for nurses and midwives
- Invest £200million to expand the Golden Jubilee Hospital and establish five new elective treatment centres in Aberdeen, Inverness, Dundee, Livingston and Edinburgh
- Implement a ten year plan to transform mental health
- Invest £150million to improve mental health services
- Implement the new Clinical Strategy – developing specialist services where appropriate and protecting local access to care
- Implement new £100million cancer plan to improve prevention, early diagnosis and treatment
- Ensure social care workers are paid the living wage
- Protect free prescriptions and keep the NHS free at the point of contact
- Protect free personal and nursing care
