UKIP has released their manifesto for the 2016 Scottish Parliament Elections. Some of their key priorities for health and care are listed below. We will provide details on the Manifestos of the other mainstream Political Parties as they are issued.
- Protect the NHS from Privatisation, keeping it free at the point of delivery for UK citizens
- Bring back the State Enrolled Nurse
- Fund return to practice training for those who have taken a career break
- Plug the gap in nursing numbers and put in place long term training projects for doctors and nurses by 2018
- Give mental health parity with physical health
- Secure appropriate treatment for appropriate mental health issues
- Fight the stigma of mental health issues
- Securing the exclusion of the NHS, by name, from the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP)
- Repealing EU directives which prohibit clinical research and limit working and training time to 48 hours per week, which prevents medics learning essential new skills
