www qnis org uk Looking ahead to the QNIS conference Conference 2018 Our 2018 conference was held in in at at the the John McIntyre Centre at at Pollock Halls Edinburgh under the the title Who Are The Change Makers? The event explored how to make an impact in in your community with a a a a a a a a a great line-up of speakers describing their journeys as change-makers They included David Duke from from from Street Soccer Scotland Zoe Ferguson from from from from Carnegie UK Trust Alison Bunce from from from from Ardgowan Hospice and and Karyn McCluskey from from from Community Justice Scotland A highlight of of the the the the day was when three of of the the the the new Queen’s Nurses each took to to to to the the the the stage to to to to talk to to to to delegates about their transformational experiences A series of workshops were also held focusing on on on making changes in in in in in the community with sessions on on on Building a a a a a a House of Care Buurtzorg’s use use in in in Scotland Evidence Based Practice how conversations can can help promote change and what health professionals can can do to help deal with welfare reform Some of the the feedback from the the conference included: • The conference was extremely informative for for me me as as a a a a future District Nurse • Wonderful positivity from from every speaker and I took something away from from each one • This conference is is is is unlike many other events I have attended insomuch that the the the emphasis is is is is very much much on on on patient centredness doing the the the right thing compassion etc rather than focussing on on targets evidence numbers and figures • Inspirational Conference 2019 This year’s conference being held in in in the the year year of of our 130th anni- versary offers us the the opportunity to celebrate nursing pioneers – past present and future The conference – Community nursing: Celebrating the the Past Shaping the the Future – – is taking place at at Murrayfield Stadium in in in in in Edinburgh on 3rd April The founders of of QNIS set out to address the the impact of of poverty on on on on the the nation’s health The conference will reflect on on on on the the the progress we are making and the the the challenges that remain in in in in in enabling the the the health and and wellbeing of all all Scotland’s communities The event chaired by Rhona Hotchkiss will feature a a a a a a a a a line-up of speakers including Alison Leary Pauline Craig and Christine Hancock For the the first time at at at a a a a a a a QNIS conference there will be an opportunity to to to attend two workshops as delegates are given a a a a a a a a a wide range of topics to to to choose from Please visit the QNIS website for for more information and to book your place 23 QNIS Newsletter & Review of 2018
