www qnis org uk Hellos and Goodbyes New faces on the QNIS Council and at Castle Terrace We are delighted to to welcome three new Trustees to to the the Council They joined us us during the the summer and have already brought valuable contributions to our work Nicky Connor is Associate Director of Nursing at at NHS Fife She provides leadership for the development delivery and and implementation of of professional nursing standards promoting quality for safe effective and and and person-centred care and and and engaging and and and developing the nursing workforce David Williams is Co-Director of Creative Help a a a a a consultancy working with third sector companies to to develop projects and and people He has an an an interest in in in in social justice and and is is looking forward to to to exploring how to to to help utilise everyday creativity to to to enhance the the work of nurses in the the community Sian Tucker is an an out of of of hours GP Chair of of of the National Out of of of Hours Group and and a a a a a a a a senior advisor on on out of hours and and urgent care to the Scottish Government She hopes to to bring an an an an understanding of how we can all work together and and support each other to to provide holistic patient care particularly when GP practices are are closed We also saw three members of our board stand down Irene Bonnar who had been a a a a a a a a QNIS Trustee since 2012 retired last year from her her role as as Head of Work and and Wellbeing at NHS Borders Council and and staff thank Irene for her her key contributions to the Staff Governance Committee and and and her advice on HR and and and health and and and safety matters Pat Tyrrell and and and and Hilda Campbell joined the board two and and and and a a a a a a a a a a a a a half and and and and three years ago respectively and and and and during that time have shared such a a a a a a a a a a a a a wealth of of of experience of of of community nursing The Council and and Staff of of of QNIS thank them them for for their time and and wish them well for the the future On the the the the staff side we have expanded the the the the team with the the the the addition of of the the the the role of of Deputy Director This position has been created to to further strengthen QNIS in terms of research policy and programme development Dr Jonathan Sher took up this new role in in in in September Since moving to Scotland from the the USA in in in in 2005 Jonathan has served as as the the Director of of Research Policy and and and and Programmes at at Children in Scotland Scotland and and and then as the the Scotland Director of of WAVE Trust Previously he has had academic appointments been a a a a a a a a a a Chief Executive coordinated coalitions and and written many published articles and reports Dr Sher said: “Having admired the reach and and accomplishments of Scotland’s community nurses it it it it is is a a a a a a a a a a a privilege to to have the the opportunity to to work with and and learn from them more closely ” “It is a a privilege to have the opportunity to work with and learn from them more closely ” 3 QNIS Newsletter & Review of 2018
