Royal reception to mark a special centenary

On Tuesday 21 April, which would have been Queen Elizabeth's 100th birthday, events took place for the Royal Family to remember her.

These events included a reception at Buckingham Palace, hosted by members of the Royal Family, which celebrated both the life and legacy of Queen Elizabeth II.

Invited guests included three people who were celebrating their 100th birthdays, along with representatives from 45 of Her Late Majesty’s patronages, and QNIS was honoured to be part of the guest list.

Two of the team, Louise Hall and Lynn Gilmour, travelled to London for the event, which was hosted in the Marble Hall at Buckingham Palace. The space had been decorated to look like a street party, with photographs of Her Late Majesty displayed around the room and bunting hung across the ceiling.

Both Queen Camilla, QNIS’ current Patron, and King Charles III spent time talking to Louise and Lynn, who also met the Duchess of Gloucester and told her about the work of QNIS. There was an opportunity too, to meet other guests, including representatives from Scouts Scotland and Steph Lawrence, Chief Executive of our sister organisation, the Queen’s Institute of Community Nursing.
