Influencing

QNIS works to influence legislation, policymaking, and political debates that affect community nursing and midwifery in Scotland.

A group of people gathered indoors, smiling and talking animatedly. Several individuals are wearing blue tartan sashes over their clothing and have name badges and event passes around their necks. One person in the foreground wears a patterned top with red and purple shapes. The setting appears modern, with metal and wood architectural features in the background.

We work with politicians, civil servants, and other stakeholders to ensure a community nursing and midwifery perspective is incorporated into policymaking at the heart of government.

In September, 2024, we held a reception sponsored by Carol Mochan MSP in the Scottish Parliament’s Garden Lobby. MSPs, health professionals, policymakers, nurses and midwives from across the country gathered to mark 135 years of the Queen’s Nursing Institute Scotland, and the awarding of the Queen’s Nurse title to more than 170 contemporary Queen’s Nurses. We were delighted to be joined by over 70 Queen’s Nurses from across Scotland.
