www qnis org uk Obituaries 2018 We remember the passing of beloved colleagues Margaret (Meg) Adam 21 October 1926 to to 15 March 2018 Margaret Margaret was was was one of five children and her sister Annie was was was also a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a Queen’s Nurse Margaret Margaret or Meg as as as as she was was was known did her her general training training at at at the the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and then completed her her midwifery training training at at at Lennox Castle Maternity Hospital She became a a a a a a a a a a a a a Queen’s Nurse in in in in in in 1953 and and was one of those who trained in in in in in in in Aberdeen and and Edinburgh Margaret nursed in in in in in in Old Meldrum then Lossiemouth before retiring in in in in in in 1986 She enjoyed an an an an an active retirement including country dancing bowling and and and then later by knitting and and and crocheting blankets for the the the Red Cross and and and Blythswood Care Latterly she lived at at at the the the Glenisla Home in Keith She is is is survived by her sister Jean Catherine (Rene) Campbell (nee Munro) 19 19 March 1930 to 5 July 2017 Rene as as as she was known by all trained as as as a a a a a a a a a a a nurse nurse in in in Greenock Royal Infirmary and went on to nurse nurse in in in in in in in Gateside Hospital Hospital She did her midwifery training training in in in in in in in in the Rankin Memorial Hospital Hospital in in in in in in in in Greenock Rene was a a a a a a a a a a a a triple duty nurse training training at at at Bath Street as as as a a a a a a a a a a a a Queen’s Nurse and at at at Robert Gordon college in in in in Aberdeen as as a a a a a a Health Visitor She started as as as a a a a a a a district nurse doing relief in in in in Onich and and then the the east coast in in in in in in Golspie and and and Dornoch before getting her her her own own district in in in in in Lochinver where she she married and and and started her her her own own family A nurse nurse nurse nurse through through and and and through through she she also trained as as a a a a a a a a a a a a children’s nurse nurse nurse nurse and and was was a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a nursery nurse nurse nurse nurse while her own children children were small Her daughter said that she was was happiest caring for people in in in in in her her community She returned to district nursing when her her her children were older and and enjoyed driving around Lochinver in in her her blue Mini and and later a a a a a Renault September 1960 when she moved back to to to to Castle Terrace to to to to complete her her Health Visitor training She then took up her her duties as district nurse and and and midwife in in in in Elgin and and and worked for for Moray and and and Nairn Local Authority until until 1978 She She became a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a health visitor for for Grampian Health Board until until retiring in in in 1990 She She was awarded a a a a a a a a a Long Service Badge for her 29 years of service in in in 1999 Diana enjoyed holidays in in in Crieff and and the the fellowship of the the retired Queen’s Nurses in in in in in and and around Tain where she she lived only moving to a a a a a nursing home shortly before she she died She is remembered fondly by all those who knew her Ann Wilson Currie (nee Bonnar) 1 1 1 June 1940 to 23 May 2018 Ann started her nursing training at Leith Hospital She became a a a a a a Queen’s District Nurse in in in in in in Edinburgh in in in in in in October 1963 completing her midwifery training at at the Eastern District Hospital in in in in in in Edinburgh Ann was was very well liked by her patients and and was was based in in in in the the Granton Granton area and and lived in in in in the the big house beside Granton Granton Wire Works Ann was very very versatile and and and worked in in many hospitals and and and nursing homes and and adapted to them very very well She became ill in in April of 2018 and and was was was admitted to hospital where where it it it was was was discovered she she had terminal cancer and and was was was transferred to a a a a a a a a hospice where where she she died on 23rd May QNIS is is grateful to to her husband Brian for this tribute to to Ann Elspeth Frame (nee Barthram) Rene spent her her later life life being cared for at at Ballifeary Care Home in in in in Inverness and and enjoyed the the the company of other reWteirlceomde & OpeEnlisnpg Pertahyerwas born in in in in Hutton Rudby North Rev Dr Easter Smart Queen’s Queen’s Nurses there and and her
