Katie Stuart
District Nurse Team Leader
NHS Tayside
What inspired you to work in the community?
I was inspired to work in the community following the care provided to my grandparents both with frailty and palliative support. The ability to support their care needs within their own homes was of great comfort to them. Our local district nurses also looked after not only our grandparents but also signposted us as a family to areas of support in our local community.
After completing my nurse training I always was most connected to the community setting. Following a valuable work period in the acute hospital setting I am now a District Nurse Team Leader and feel I have arrived in my forever role! The ability to support a local community and team within which I work is a privilege. Every day I hope I spread a little sparkle everywhere I go.
Following completion of the Queen’s Nurse Development Programme, I am able to show my abilities to support the local community in which I work. The Queen’s Nurse Development Programme has enabled me to develop within my role and gain confidence to support my colleagues with their own development whilst providing me with useful tools and resources to look after my own wellbeing.
Never lose your sparkly feet, a footprint of glitter will follow you everywhere and inspire others to try.
