As a registered charity, the Queen’s Nursing Institute Scotland (QNIS) relies on donations to enable us to continue our work with community nurses and midwives. Your donation can help us do so much more.
Most people will receive care from a community nurse or midwife at some point in their lives. QNIS is the only charity in Scotland that offers leadership and development opportunities solely for this sector of the workforce.
There are many ways you can support us. You can make a single donation to support us now or set up a regular payment and help us continue our work.
You may also want to think about leaving a legacy in your will or donating collections from family events such as funerals, weddings etc.
You can encourage your employer to make us their chosen charity, take part in an organised event (you can support us directly through the Kiltwalk website), or even organise your own fundraising event!
Some may choose to give the ‘gift of time’ by volunteering as a Visitor or joining our Board of Trustees.
You can find out more about supporting us below.
QNIS wants to be around to help as many community nurses and midwives as we can – now and in the future. All our income relies on trusts and foundations, and donations from generous individuals like yourself. This means that gifts left in wills can have a huge impact on the charity.
By leaving a gift in your will, you are helping ensure that QNIS can continue its work to inspire, develop, and support Scotland’s community nurses and midwives.
Your pledge will help us build a healthier, fairer, kinder Scotland.
What difference can you make?
By leaving a gift in your will, you could transform the care we offer to community nurses and midwives, and the communities they serve. Your gift can:
- Provide a community nurse or midwife with wellbeing support, which can be hugely beneficial for dealing with the pressures and stresses of their jobs
- Fund our visitor scheme for retired Queen’s Nurses, giving them a supportive network that provides fellowship and company
- Support our relational care workshops and development programme which give nurses and midwives the skills to lead and to support the health of their communities
- Help us to continue to advocate for community nursing and midwifery.
How can I leave a gift in my will?
If you have already made a Will
If you have already made a will, you can leave a gift to QNIS by making a simple addition to your existing will. This is called a codicil and can be arranged with a solicitor.
If you have not already made a Will
If you have not already made a will, and would like to leave a gift to QNIS, we advise you to see a solicitor to help you draw up your will.
Although you will have to pay a fee, you will receive professional advice and can be sure that your wishes will be carried out.
Your solicitor will need to know our address and registered charity number:
- 31 Castle Terrace, Edinburgh EH1 2EL
- Charity Number SC005751.

Our promise

- We will use your gift wisely and effectively.
Supporting QNIS in memory of a loved one is a touching way to celebrate their life and create a lasting legacy that will help to improve the health of people across Scotland.
It can be comforting to know that your gift, given in their honour, means that after they are gone, the organisation they represented is supported and continues to have an impact on so many people.

There are a number of ways your staff teams can work with us for mutual benefit.
You could choose us as your charity of the year, donate a percentage of your profits on a particular product to us, take part in an event on our behalf, or partner with us on a project.
We always welcome the opportunity to raise awareness with interested organisations about the work that QNIS is doing to improve health inequalities and support community nursing and midwifery.
If you’d like to find out more about how your organisation can get involved with QNIS, contact the team at office@qnis.org.uk.
Why not get a group of friends or colleagues together and take on a challenge whilst raising funds for QNIS.
There are lots of organised events taking place across Scotland such as the Kiltwalk, Edinburgh Marathon, and the Scottish 10k. If you do take part in an event, please get in touch and let us know about your challenge.
If you want to try something different, why not organise your own challenge and raise funds for QNIS. We’d love to hear from you and find out about the innovative ways you find to support us.
You can contact us at office@qnis.org.uk.
Your donation can help us do so much more.
By making a donation to Queen’s Nursing Institute Scotland you will be supporting us to promote excellence in community nursing and midwifery in Scotland and to improve the health and wellbeing of the people of Scotland.
Your donations will allow us to fulfil our charitable objectives, to equip community nurses and midwives with professional development skills and to support their wellbeing. You will help us to promote their great work, share their learning and support those front line nurses who want to bring about change in the spirit of the original Queen’s Nurses.
Making a single donation
If you would like to send us a cheque, please make it payable to:

HMRC allows us to claim back the tax you have paid on any donations you make to us. For every £1 donated we can claim back 25p at no cost to you. To do this we need to ask you to complete a Gift Aid Declaration Form (click here to access). If you have not sent a form with your donation we will automatically send you a form when we acknowledge your Gift unless you tell us not to.
You can make a one-off donation by credit card via our JustGiving page.
You don’t need to have a JustGiving account to donate this way.
If you’d like to make a recurrent donation, these can be made via Go Cardless, or via Credit/Debit card or PayPal.
The impact your gift could have
With your donations, we can support, inspire, and develop Scotland’s community nurses and midwives, helping them to be catalysts for change in their neighbourhoods.
Fundraising enables us to offer so much more to communities across Scotland. It helps us provide a transformational development programme. It means we can provide professional and personal development for those currently working as community nurses and midwives, such as online workshops on relational approaches to care. And it allows us to provide wellbeing resources for healthcare professionals, and fellowship for retired Queen’s Nurses.
Your money means that community nurses and midwives across Scotland are supported to address health inequalities and improve the lives of those they care for.
However you fundraise and whatever the amount, we are immensely grateful for your support.
