Learning Disability

Currently, there are no Queen’s Nurses operating in the area of Learning Disability Nursing. However, below are a number of profiles of Learning Disability Nurses in order to offer examples of different roles under Learning Disability. These were collected by the Scottish Learning Disability Nurses Network, to whom we are grateful. “Approximately one and a…

Treatment Room Nurse

We are in the process of developing a profile of a Treatment Room Nurse to provide a more detailed explanation of the role. Please check back again in the future.

Learning Disability Nurse

Learning Disability Nurses provide support to those with learning disabilities. From working in schools to residential and community centres or in the home, LD nurses support the health needs of people with learning disabilities, their families and carers

School Nurse

School Nurses work within a school setting, often across a number of schools, providing support and advice, with an emphasis on public health and wellbeing.

Advanced Nurse Practitioner

Advanced Nurse Practitioners manage the complete care for their patient, not solely any specific condition – able to see, treat and prescribe for patients in their own right. Four pillars of practice define the core role and function of the ANP: Clinical Practice, Leadership, Facilitation of Learning and Evidence, Research and Development.

Criminal Justice/Prison Nurse

Criminal Justice/Prison Nurses work within the criminal justice setting – either in a prison, or a custody suite supporting people with a wide range of health issues, they are considered expert generalists across mental and physical health.
